The I/O Pak™ family consists of three different series of products. The I/O Pak C-Series are broadly classified as 100Hz, 16-bit analog measurement devices with Modbus-RTU, Profibus-DP and simple ASCII communications option (software selectable in most cases). They are ideal solutions for distributed data acquisition systems, SCADA projects and standalone applications that go beyond the capabilities of Action's signal conditioners and alarm modules. Excellent expansion I/O for Modbus and Profibus PLC systems, particularly for analog inputs (RTD, TC, bridge, VDC, mADC). Discrete input channels provide status, counter, frequency and quadrature measurement functions.

The second member of the family is the I/O Pak K-Series. These modules are classified as 1000Hz, 19-bit analog measurement devices. The modules themselves can be configured as Modbus or ASCII protocol slaves. In conjunction with the optional IOPK-EGATE-01 Data Concentrator, throughputs of 100,000 samples per second can be achieved on a 12Mbps Profibus network. The EGATE will also provide web server functions as well as accepting and executing standard IEC 61131 "soft PLC" control programs. High speed / high accuracy universal analog inputs are around $265 per channel. High speed / high accuracy thermocouple inputs are around $80 per channel. Digital inputs are around $28 per channel.

The last member of the family is the I/O Pak DL-Series of intelligent data logging modules with Modbus, Profibus and ASCII serial interface. These full-featured modules can log data from their on-board I/O channels as well as from other C-Series and K-Series modules on the network. The DL-Series consists of three different data logging modules, the DL100-U, DL101-U and the DL104-T. The first two support eight or six universal analog inputs respectively while the DL104-T is dedicated to four PT-100 RTD inputs. They all support modems, pager messaging on alarms, scheduled and event driven data uploading and a whole lot more.

To support all this functionality are several software packages from which to choose. There are two configuration software packages available. The ICP-STD package contains basic configuration software only. The ICP-ADV package contains all the functions of the STD version, but adds Profibus-DP and modem functionality. There are also three different data logging packages. The basic package, IOPK-LOG1 is the economical I/O Pak data logging and visualization software. IOPK-LOG1 can only display 8 channels at a time and can only support 80 channels maximum. The IOPK-ECONSOLE-L package adds enhanced functionality over the LOG1 package while the IOPK-ECONSOLE-S package adds the modem communication and auto-archiving capabilities. The ECONSOLE packages support an unlimited number of channels and can also be configured to periodically archive data to a PC. ECONSOLE also supports computational scripting using built-in Visual Basic commands.
